Hi and welcome to my Blog....

I am sure it will soon become evident that I am no literary master of words, though I hope to share some of my thoughts and experiences whilst I am out and about as a photographer.

These may be in the form of an account of a commissioned assignment or a stock photographing trip or personal project, or even some straight forward views on workshops I have attended.
Whilst I can claim to have accumulated a good deal of experience as a photographer, I am always on the look out for new stuff to learn and don't ever feel I know it all.

White Horses at the White Horse Hotel in aid of the ABC Animal Sanctuary

I recently received an invitation from the proprietor of the White Horse Hotel in Storrington, to hold my own small one man show with the aim of raising funds for the 'ABC Champions Animal Sanctuary' in neighbouring West Chiltington.

I got in touch with Cheryl at the sanctuary and was granted permission to go along one morning last week, when I met the founder, Alexandra Bastedo and a few of the many volunteers who dedicate their time to looking after the many animals at the sanctuary.

After being introduced, I was left to quietly stroll amongst the many ponies and donkeys in the paddocks, where I spent some time with Misty, a small nervous white pony

who, if I got too close, the ears would go back and off she'd trot. Though most of them had their heads down, only one curious donkey called Hutch came over to see what I was about, otherwise they all seemed to tolerate my presence and got on with their grazing.

I then went over to the next paddock where I met Sky and her son Rhett, who were going nosing through some hay by the shelter.

A miniature Shetland came over to join us, which Rhett took a small exception to but other than this, both Sky and Rhett allowed me to get quite close and showed no sign of being anxious at my presence.

Eventually Sky ventured away from Rhett and out into the paddock where I could more easily capture her fully.

Rhett didn't seem at all concerned at my following his mother, content to continue picking through the hay,

The series of images I am working on primarily feature White or Grey horses and ponies.

I really want to do them justice and raise funds for the sanctuary so that they can continue to help the many animals in their care.
